My Avatar Object’s Evolution Over the Semester Keyword: Data Privacy
Updated Avatar
Over the course of the semester, I have immersed myself in my interest and identity exemplified by my keyword of data privacy. Picturized in the updated Avatar object, Giant Alan Westin is stating that consent and individual choice is critical to data privacy. The European Union and The State of California are on the users’ side by creating legislation to protect user data privacy. However, Giant Fred Cate is arguing that data privacy laws and regulations should be centered around data stewardship. The strength of the Avatar Object is that adds Privacy Policies and Terms and Conditions to show that corporations are making efforts to protect user data privacy by outlining how they use user data. However, the weakness is that it does not show any organizations advocating for corporations.
Original Avatar
My identity and interests in technology inspires my keyword of Data Privacy. The Avatar illustrates how users are protecting their data from corporations, who want their data for different purposes. The United States government is in the middle of the avatar because it’s in the middle of the conflict. The government doesn’t have a holistic data privacy law but wants to protect user data. However, they also want corporations to foster a prosperous economy. The strength of the Avatar is that it models data privacy in the United States. The weakness is that it generalizes corporations as some have data privacy initiatives.
